Police in Ashaiman have arrested a man identified as Francis Alidu in connection with a consignment of compressed dried leaves suspected to be cannabis concealed in a sack of cassava.
The arrest was made in the night of Friday October 31, 2025 following intelligence received from the Ho police in the Volta Region.

According to a dependable deep-throat source at the Police Headquarters, the Police in Ho had apprehended a driver, Francis Alidu, of Ashaiman, suspected of transporting the narcotics. During interrogation, the driver was named as the consignee.
Information was subsequently relayed to the Ashaiman Police who tracked Alidu and invited him for questioning.
During the questioning, Francis Alidu received a phone call from another driver, informing him that a sack of cassava meant for him had been deposited in front of Ashaiman branch of KFC.
Accompanied by the police, he retrieved the sack and brought it to the police station where it was opened in the presence of Francis Alidu, only to reveal eighteen (18) compressed slabs of dried leaves, suspected to be cannabis.
The source continued that the police in Ashaiman are currently in the process of handing the suspect to their counterparts in Ho, for further investigation, to dismantle the syndicate responsible for the narcotics.
