Police Arrest 25-year-old with ammunition and offensive items

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Yussif Mohammed for possessing a total of 207 rounds of ammunition.

Other items found in his possession are one bullet proof vest, two black jackets, one crash helmet and two pairs of military trousers.

The rest are two smocks with talismans embedded on them, one black pullover, one green jacket and a quantity of leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.

Briefing the Press at the Regional Police Headquarters at Bekwai, in Ashanti region, the Deputy Regional Commander, ACP Mr. Cephas Arthur, said the suspect was arrested with a backpack containing the ammunition and the other items, at Asankare Police barrier.

He revealed that the suspect was on board an Accra-bound passenger bus from Kumasi, when the luggage, being the said backpack, fell from the bus.

According to ACP Cephas Arthur, the attention of the police at the barrier was drawn to the backpack by some public spirited persons who apprehended Yussif Mohammed, who claimed ownership of it.

He said investigation has commenced into the incident and sooner than later the suspect will be processed for court.

The Deputy Regional Commander called on the general public to collaborate with the Police to fight crime by volunteering information to them on criminals and crimes.
