A US-based Ghanaian Philanthropist, Mr. Samuel Quansah Quarcoo, and his friends have undertaken a mass donation exercise to orphanages and schools within the country.
At least, about four facilities, at the last count, have benefitted from the benevolence of the Philanthropist in the last month.
Across the spots, Mr. Quarcoo donated items worth thousands of dollars to these institutions to aid the running of affairs.
Some institutions are Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home, in the Central Region, O’Reilly Senior High School, Bishop Girls School, and Westside School in Accra. The items donated included bags of rice, cooking oils, sewing machines, and books.
The Philanthropist, who has been embarking on such charity works for some years now, said he found fulfilment in giving back to society to ameliorate the plight of the vulnerable and the underprivileged. “I love to give back to society, especially to the needy, because that is what gives me fulfilment,” he said.
ORPHANAGES
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home, Mr. Samuel Quansah Quarcoo said the donation was his way of showing love to the children at the Orphanage.
He added that it was also to help ease the burden on those managing the homes, and indicated that he wanted to inculcate into the children the act of kindness, so they could also follow in his footsteps and support the underprivileged.
Receiving the items on behalf of Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home, Mr. Patrick said the items had come at the right time, since the Home had run out of foodstuffs and they were wondering where their next meal would be coming from.
Mr. Patrick also said the sewing machines had also come at the right time, because some of the children at the Orphanage were embarking on dressmaking training and would need the machines to make the training easy for them.
Mr. Patrick later thanked Mr. Quarcoo and his friends on behalf of Ghana Make a Different Orphanage Home and the children for coming to their aid.
EMMAUS METHODIST SCHOOL COMPLEX
Mr. Samuel Quarcoo and friends also donated items to Emmaus Methodist School Complex at Awoshie Last Stop in Accra.
Some of the items were shoes, school bags, textbooks, notebooks, PA system, pens, pencils, toothbrushes and toothpastes, sanitary pads, liquid soaps, sanitisers and many more.
Speaking at the presentation in Accra, Mr. Quarcoo said the donation was his contribution to support the pupils, and also to encourage them to study well.
He said the initiative was borne out of his genuine love for charity, and eagerness to alleviate the plights of the less privileged.
The Philanthropist expressed profound gratitude to his well-wishers in the US, who had been supporting his philanthropic work.
Speaking on behalf of the Diocesan Bishop, Very Rev. Andrew Mbeah-Baiden, Synod Secretary of Northern Accra, said they were very grateful to Mr. Quarcoo for his kind gestures, and encouraged all those present to emulate him.
Some dignitaries present at the occasion were Very Rev. Joseph E. Baidoo, Superintendent Minister of Awoshie Circuit and Local Manager of Emmaus Methodist School, Madam Sandra Odei Acheampong, Deputy Director of Education in charge of Supervision, (Ga Central Municipal Assembly).
