The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has stated that Parliament would soon meet to discuss a loan facility from Spain for the commencement of the proposed Suame interchange in September this year.

He said as a result of the proposed interchange, it was not possible to embark on any major reconstruction of the Suame main road apart from a few patches, because the interchange would call for a redesign of the main Suame-Offinso road.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said the four-tier interchange was still at the heart of the government, and once Parliament gave the green light for the loan facility, the project would take off.

The leader of government business, who met with selected leaderships of spare parts dealers at the Suame Magazine, acknowledged the stress the dealers at the Suame Magazine enclave go through in the face of the fact that they had to water their frontage every morning to avoid health hazards from dust.

Explaining why the project had delayed, the Majority Leader told the dealers that the local contractor tasked for the overlay had run out of asphalt, but luckily, had been able to secure some from La Cote d’Ivoire and would begin work in earnest.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu gave the assurance that within the next three days, the contractor would be on site to commence the asphalt overlay.

The meeting with the Suame Lawmaker on Monday was occasioned when hundreds of spare parts dealers at the Suame Magazine business enclave abandoned their work to vent their spleen on the Member of Parliament.

The dealers accused the MP of deceiving them about the provision of an interchange at the main Suame Roundabout, and to also fix the pothole-laden roads in the constituency.
