Rapper who went missing on tour found dead in Mexico

A Colombian rapper who went missing while on tour in Mexico has been found dead and identified by his family, Mexican prosecutors said Monday.

Rapper Bayron Sanchez, who used the stage name B King, disappeared with Colombian DJ colleague Jorge Herrera on September 16 as they left a gym in an exclusive neighborhood of Mexico City, their manager told Colombian radio.

Mexico City prosecutors said that another body found on September 17 presented “similarities” with that of Herrera, who performed under the name Regio Clown. His body had yet to be formally identified.

“They told me they were going to have lunch with two people, but didn’t return any messages” thereafter, the musicians’ manager, Juan Camilo Gallego, told Colombia’s Blu Radio.

He said he initially suspected that they had been kidnapped, but received no ransom demand and reported them missing to the authorities.

The last video posted to B King’s Instagram on September 15 shows him in a dressing room getting ready for a concert in Mexico.

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said earlier the men’s disappearance was under investigation.

Reacting to reports of the two men’s deaths Colombia’s leftist President Gustavo Petro wasted no time in claiming the pair had been “murdered.”

Ubeatz urges Shatta Wale to record live version of ‘Street Crown’

Revered Ghanaian music producer and audio engineer Hubert Kofi Anti, known in showbiz as Ubeatz, has advised Shatta Wale to consider a live rendition of his latest hit song ‘Street Crown’.

Ubeatz believes a live performance would add depth and freshness to the record, which was released about a month ago and has already gained massive traction.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Music Lab on September 20, 2025, he praised Shatta Wale for producing a brilliant composition but stressed that a live touch could elevate the song even further.

“The guitarist sounded like he picked some sample and dropped it in. A real guitarist would have featured better. The live performance of this song will be very good, when real musicians are playing this,” he said.

He intimated that Shatta Wale should consider a version performed by a live band or orchestra. ‘Street Crown’ has received endorsement from fans and industry stakeholders, including Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel, and is currently topping various music charts.

Music Lab takes Joy FM listeners behind the scenes of Ghana’s most talked-about songs, breaking down the creative and technical processes such as vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, arrangement and production. The show features music producers, musicologists and creatives who share expert analysis.

This week’s edition included Austine Woode (broadcaster), Kofi Boachie-Ansah also known as Beatmenace (audio engineer), Freeman Daniel Ame (voice coach and artiste development manager), and Ubeatz.

Afghan boy flies from Kabul to Delhi hiding in plane’s landing gear

The boy travelled undetected, hiding in the landing gear compartment

A 13-year-old Afghan boy made a dangerous journey from Kabul to Delhi, hiding in the landing gear compartment of a Kam Air passenger plane.

Officials say the teen, who is from Kunduz city in northern Afghanistan, was found wandering around on the runway at Delhi’s international airport after the plane landed on Monday.

He was detained by Indian security personnel and questioned for several hours before being sent back to Kabul on the same flight.

The boy reportedly told authorities he made the journey out of curiosity.

A spokesperson from the Indian Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said the boy managed to travel undetected on Kam Airlines flight RQ-4401, which landed in Delhi around 11:10 (05:40 GMT) on Sunday.

Police found him roaming around by himself and took him aside for questioning.

The boy reportedly told authorities that he had hidden himself in the rear central landing gear compartment of the plane.

The airline staff also found a small red-coloured audio speaker after further safety inspections were carried out.

The Indian Express newspaper reported that the 13-year-old wanted to travel to Iran and did not know that the flight he entered was bound for Delhi, not Tehran.

According to the newspaper, the boy sneaked into Kabul airport, trailed a group of passengers, and stowed away in the aircraft’s rear wheel well – the internal compartment which houses the landing gear. He was carrying only the red coloured speaker with him.

There have been recent incidents of stowaways hiding in flights to the US or Europe, often escaping their home countries. But very few of them make it out alive.

Eswatini says it has repatriated US deportee to Jamaica

His Majesty King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini

A Jamaican man deported from the US to Eswatini under President Donald Trump’s tough new immigration rules has been sent on to Jamaica, the Eswatini government has said.

Orville Isaac Etoria, 62, was voluntarily repatriated at the weekend, and was “warmly welcomed by members of his family”, it added.

But his treatment has been condemned by the Legal Aid Society of New York, which says Etoria came to the US as a child and had lawful permanent resident status there for decades.

Etoria and four other individuals – from Cuba, Laos, Vietnam and Yemen – were described by the US government as “depraved monsters” when they were expelled to Eswatini in southern Africa in July.

Since then, they have been held in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison in the capital city Mbabane.

Lawyers for the remaining four deportees say they have not been able to contact them. But Eswatini’s government has said that it is engaging in efforts to repatriate them all.

Trump’s pledge to conduct mass deportations was a centrepiece of his election campaign and an issue on which he drew widespread support.

In some cases, people are expelled to countries where they have no ties.

Etoria had “transformed his life” while serving a 25-year prison sentence for murder and reintegrated into American society, when he was deported and imprisoned again in Eswatini without due process, the Legal Aid Society society.

Activists in Eswatini also denounced the deal as “unconstitutional” and protested outside the American embassy.

Rights groups have instituted legal action in a bid to overturn it, saying the government could not strike the deal out without the approval of parliament. The government said it had acted within its powers.

US Secret Service disrupts telecom threat near UN General Assembly

UN General Assembly

The US Secret Service says it has disrupted a network of telecommunications devices that could have shut down cellular networks as leaders gather for the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

The agency said it had found more than 300 SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards that might have been used for telecom attacks within the area encompassing parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

“This network had the power to disable cell phone towers and essentially shut down the cellular network in New York City,” said special agent in charge Matt McCool.

The devices were discovered within 35 miles (56km) of the assembly, where leaders from around the world are meeting this week.

The agency said officials were examining the devices, but that the “well-organised and well-funded” scheme involved communications between “nation-state threat actors and individuals that are known to federal law enforcement”.

The equipment was capable of texting the entire population of the US within 12 minutes, officials say. It could also have disabled mobile phone towers and launched distributed denial of services attacks that might have blocked emergency services communications.

McCool told US reporters that the scheme involved unidentified nation-state actors sending encrypted messages to organised crime groups, cartels and terrorist organisations.

The devices were seized from SIM farms at abandoned apartment buildings across more than five sites. Officials did not specify the locations.

The discovery followed an investigation into anonymous “telephonic threats” directed at three US government officials this spring, unnamed officials told the New York Times.

Mass evacuations as southern China braces for strongest storm of the year

China's meteorological agency has issued strong warnings about Super Typhoon Ragasa

China has evacuated hundreds of thousands of people and ordered at least 10 cities to close schools and some businesses as the strongest storm of the year bears down on its southern coast.

Hong Kong has upgraded its typhoon warning to eight – just two levels below the maximum – ahead of the arrival of Super Typhoon Ragasa.

The storm is expected to make landfall in China’s Guangdong province on Wednesday, where some 370,000 people have been evacuated so far, as authorities warn of a “catastrophic” situation.

Ragasa has been dubbed the “King of Storms” by China’s meteorological agency and is expected to move towards northern Vietnam in the coming days, potentially affecting millions.

On Tuesday, supermarket shelves in Hong Kong were wiped empty of fresh bread, vegetables, meat and instant noodles as residents prepared to hunker down.

Hong Kong International Airport said it expected “significant disruption to flight operations” from 18:00 local time (10:00 GMT) on Tuesday until the next day.

More than 500 Cathay Pacific flights are expected to be cancelled, while Hong Kong Airlines said it would stop all departures from the city.

In cities across southern China, shop owners piled sandbags in front of their stores in preparation for the storm’s arrival, with residents in low-lying areas next to the sea front particularly worried about tidal surges.

Many have also taped up the windows of their homes and businesses, hoping to prevent their destruction.

Executive members of the IGBO Community in Ashanti Region

The Igbo Community in Ashanti Region has dissociated itself from the purported establishment of an Igbo Kingdom by Eze Chuckwudi Jude Ihenetu, who claims to be King of the Igbo community in Ghana.

Martin Chukwudi Okafor – Head of IGBO Community in Ashanti Region

Martin Chukwudi Okafor, Head of the Igbo Community in Ashanti Region, has stated in Kumasi that there is no King in Ghana besides Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and denounced Eze Chuckwudi Ihenetu as King.

Mr. Martin Okafor Igbo in the Ashanti region frowned on attempts by the “self-styled Igbo King” to create an Igbo Kingdom in Ghana.

He said over 70 years the Igbo community has existed in the Ashanti region and been part of Ashanti Traditional setup and know the Asantehene as a King to whom they owe allegiance and pay homage to and not any other person.

The Igbo Community head emphasised that so long as they reside in the Ashanti region, Igbos will continue to be part of the system and recognise the Asantehene as a monarch with no match in Ghana.

Mr. Chukwudi Okafor described the late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III as a gem and a mother for all.

He urged members of the Igbo community in the region to co-exist in harmony with their host (Ashantis) as well as respect the tradition, norms and values of the people.

It will be recalled that Eze Chuckwudi Jude Ihenetu and his entourage were last Wednesday prevented from directly exchanging pleasantries with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Apostolic Church–Ghana Climax 90th Anniversary with Thanksgiving Service

Madam Rasamond Saka, a member of the Apostolic Church

The Apostolic Church–Ghana has climaxed its 90th Anniversary celebration with a grand District Service at the Osu branch, bringing together congregants, leaders and invited guests in a spirit-filled gathering marked by worship, thanksgiving and reflection.

The milestone, which began on September 11, 2025 and concluded on September 14, 2025 was celebrated under the overarching theme: “The God Who Answers by Fire,” drawn from 1st Kings 18.

The climax service, however, centered on the sermon topic – “This God Shall Be Our God Forever” from Psalm 48:14, delivered by the Osu District Pastor, Rev. Joseph Akorful.

Speaking in an interview after the service, Rev. Akorful explained that the message sought to remind members of the God of their fathers, the same God who established the Apostolic Church in 1935 and has sustained it for nine decades.

“Looking at what transpired on Mount Carmel between Elijah and the prophets of Baal, God revealed Himself as the true and living God. That same unchanging God, merciful and covenant-keeping, has guided our church to this point,” he said.

He emphasised that the anniversary was not only about looking back but also about reaffirming faith for the future.

“Our fathers trusted in this God and He proved faithful. Today, we testify that the same God is still with us, answering by fire. We call on both the congregation and the nation at large to remain steadfast in Him, because without God, the country cannot find proper direction,” he added.

The celebration featured moments of worship, prayer and thanksgiving, with members reflecting on the church’s contributions to spiritual growth as well as social interventions such as education and healthcare.

It also served as a rallying call for unity and evangelism, as the church pledged to continue being a beacon of hope in Ghanaian society.

Rev. Akorful noted that while the Osu District had completed its celebration, other districts across the country and in the Diaspora were also holding similar climax services within September and October.

“The 90th anniversary has been about acknowledging God’s goodness, and each district is joining in with thanksgiving for what He has done and continues to do,” he said.

As the church looks to the future, leaders and members alike reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the legacy of faith, service and transformation that has defined The Apostolic Church–Ghana over the past 90 years.
