An All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Rochas Okorocha has allegedly been held hostage. Okorocha made the remark in reaction to the presence of operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in his Abuja residence.

On Tuesday, EFCC operatives besieged the Imo West Senator’s residence in the Maitama area of Abuja. Okorocha in reaction to their presence claimed the men of the anti-graft agency invaded his residence without a warrant of arrest.

Speaking with Channels Television, Okorocha said: “I am under hostage I would say, the EFCC is at my house both the back and the front.

“I would say, I have enquired if they have an arrest warrant nothing, and I am supposed to be getting ready for screening.

“I don’t know what is really happening, It is unfortunate that this is happening here.”

Okorocha vowed to hold a press conference on the matter, adding that EFCC banned journalists from gaining access into his house.

“I am trying to address a press conference, Of course, the EFCC cannot stop the press from coming into my premises. They are inside my compound but the press is coming inside my house to interview me, they can’t stop them, he insisted,” he said.

Governor Wike dissolves cabinet, sacks chief of staff

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has dissolved the state executive council.

Mr Wike also sacked his Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke and his Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Harold Koko.

This was contained in a statement by the special assistant to the governor on media, Kelvin Ebiri, Tuesday morning.

“Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has dissolved the State Executive Council with effect from Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

“The chief of staff to the governor and senior special assistant (Protocol), have also been relieved of their office,” the statement read in part.

Although no reason was given for the dissolution of the cabinet and sacking of the two senior government officials, there are feelings that it may be connected with governorship ambitions of some of the executive members.

The governor commended the cabinet members for their services and contributions to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours. Mr Wike, according to the statement, instructed all the former members of the council to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries.

The governor will complete his tenure as governor of the state in 2023.

He has indicated his interest to run for President of Nigeria in 2023 under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Wike has also purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the PDP’s presidential primaries.

Khloé Kardashian ‘offended’ by people thinking she had ‘12 face transplants’

She’s not two-faced, let alone 12-faced. Khloé Kardashian said in a new interview that she can take the scrutiny she gets online, but one rumor that offends her is that she has had multiple face transplants.

“It did use to bother me when people were [saying] I’ve had 12 face transplants. I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, I have?’ I was like, ‘That’s crazy,’” she said on Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast Tuesday.

Kardashian, 37, could not figure out where the rumor came from, insisting once again that she has only had “one nose job.”

“It didn’t bother me. It offended me,” she shared. “I just couldn’t figure out why people thought that. I’ve had one nose job that I love. Like, I want everyone to know. … I don’t care to lie about it.”

The “Kardashians” star added, “But the transplant thing, I just want to understand why” before joking, “That sounds amazing later in life, but now, I’m good.”

While Kardashian said the rumors do not “bother” her, what really gets under her skin is the way the public compares her to her sisters.

Tom Cruise holds the key to his final Mission Impossible adventure

Produce and star in a globetrotting, stunt-heavy action movie in the middle of a global pandemic. That was Tom Cruise’s mission … and he chose to accept it. The Top Gun: Maverick star and his regular collaborator, director Christopher McQuarrie, started working on the two-part Mission: Impossible adventure just as COVID-19 shut down film productions across the world.

But Cruise & Co. soldiered on (with some controversy and a run-in with the virus), and the fruits of their labor are on display in the just-released M:I 7 trailer, which is already taking the internet by storm a full year off from its July 14, 2023 release date. (Watch the trailer above.

The official trailer for Dead Reckoning, Part One, as the seventh film is called, landed early Monday just days after a leaked version surfaced online. The film marks the beginning of the end for Cruise’s super-spy alter ego, Ethan Hunt. As far back as Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, speculation has raged about when Cruise would be ready to retire the character, and the next two movies appear to be the franchise’s series finale.                                                 Credit: yahoonews.com

The CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yofi Grant, led a delegation from Ghana to visit Tyler Perry Studios at Atlanta in United States of America.

The delegation included the CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Dr Afua Asabea Asare, executives from the Ghana International Chamber of Commerce (GHICC), and the Ghana Council of Georgia members.

The delegation, after their tour, held a meeting with Elon D. Johnson, Senior Creative Executive of Production and Development at the Tyler Perry Studios.

This meeting encouraged Tyler Perry Studios to consider Ghana as an ideal location for its production hub in Africa.

The delegation from Ghana addressed the great talents and opportunities in Ghana’s creative arts industry and called for Tyler Perry Studios to come to invest in Ghana.

Before this, movie actor and comedian Michael Blackson stated in an exclusive interview with Doreen Avio that he would get investors and some of his colleagues in Hollywood, including Tyler Perry, to invest in the Ghana movie industry.

On the heels of that, he tweeted on February 16: “Hey @tylerperry, let’s go half on a film studio in Ghana, I’ll get the land, and you build the studio.”

“I ran into a few film commissioners that were here last week. We talked about how we need a big film studio here, so I will reach out to my big boys like Tyler Perry to see if he would be interested in extending something over here,” Michael Blackson said on Let’s Talk Showbiz.

According to him, the industry needs funds and other things, including a film studio, to flourish; adding that, he would like Ghana to be a spot for filmmakers worldwide to visit and shoot their projects.

Buatsi, 29, defeated Richards on Sunday to put himself in a good position for a world title shot.

He dominated his opponent in all the rounds, eventually securing a 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 unanimous verdict.

Malawi Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda

The Malawi government is investigating some of its former diplomats who served the country’s embassies in Namibia, South Africa and the United Kingdom for allegedly selling state assets ,including houses, and failing to account for the proceeds of the sales. The country’s Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda said some of the transactions date back to the years when the United Democratic Front (UDF) was in office.

UDF was led by president Bakili Muluzi who ruled the landlocked southern central African country from 1994-2004.

The investigation follows audits, including the most recent one, which revealed that properties that belong to the Malawi government at the Johannesburg Consulate in South Africa have no ownership papers, according to The Nation Newspaper which first reported of the investigation.

“These assets that were disposed of include houses and I know these properties. Embassy houses were sold without following laid-down disposal of public assets procedures. Worse still, the money cannot be accounted for,” Nyirenda is quoted as having said.

In an interview with RFI, the attorney Nyirenda estimated that over 20 state houses were sold.

The Spaniard is alleged to have violated US sanctions

The FBI has issued an arrest warrant for a Spanish man who claims to be a “special delegate” working for the government of North Korea, accusing him of recruiting a cryptocurrency expert in an attempt to help Pyongyang circumvent US sanctions.

Alejandro Cao de Benós, a 47-year-old Spanish national who describes himself as Pyongyang’s special delegate for the committee for cultural relations with foreign countries, is alleged to have conspired with Virgil Griffith, a US cryptocurrency expert, to “illegally provide cryptocurrency and blockchain services to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)”.

According to the FBI, Cao de Benós began organising a “Pyongyang blockchain and cryptocurrency conference” for the benefit of North Korea in early 2018.

The Spaniard is alleged to have violated US sanctions by arranging for Griffith to travel to North Korea in April 2019 to provide services to Kim Jong-un’s regime.

Turkey’s Erdogan says he will no longer talk to Greek PM

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will stop talking to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and cancel a key meeting between their two governments, accusing the Greek leader of antagonising Turkey.

In a televised address following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Erdogan accused Mitsotakis of recommending to US officials that Washington not sell F-16 fighter jets to Turkey during a recent visit to the United States.

Erdogan then went on to accuse Greece of harbouring followers of US-based religious leader Fethullah Gulen, who Turkey says was behind a failed coup attempt in 2016, and of establishing military bases against Turkey. Gulen has long denied the Turkish allegation.

“We had agreed to not include third countries in our dispute with him. Despite this, last week, he had a visit to the US and talked at the Congress and warned them not to give F-16s to us,” Erdogan said. “He no longer exists for me. I will never agree to meet with him. We will continue our way with honourable politicians.”
