A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Owusu-Aduomi, has endorsed the leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, to become the next president of the country.
Mr. Owusu-Aduomi, speaking to some faithful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency, said the only way the Ashanti Region and Ejisu Constituency could see developmental projects was to vote massively for Alan Kyerematen, or forget about having its fair share of the national cake.
The former Ejisu Constituency hinted that there were plans by some party gurus to sideline Ashantis from the leadership of the party, citing the frustration and subsequent victimisation of Victor Owusu in 1979, and recently Alan Kyerematen.
According to Owusu-Aduomi, they should not trust any political party, because the independent candidacy of Alan Kyerematen had what it took to manage the country, describing him (Alan) as an incorruptible politician unlike those who claimed to be incorruptible, and yet proved to be otherwise and worse at that.
He said none of the presidential aspirants from both political divides would bring development to Ejisu, and urged them to vote for Alan Kyerematen as president to bring development to them and improve their lot, instead of voting for selfish people who only assumed power to enrich themselves.
Owusu-Aduomi said Alan Kyerematen’s victory would end the winner-take-all system and and ensure that best brains from other political divide form an all-inclusive union government to champion the development of the country.
The former Deputy Roads Minister said Mr. Alan Kyerematen had an international reputation, coupled with a business mind to propel Ghana’s development, and mentioned the role he played in establishing EMPRETEC Ghana to grow the local economy.
“Alan Kyerematen as good politician with legal and economic backgrounds,” Mr. Owusu-Aduomi said, adding that his experience explained why Alan Kyerematen was the only person who could explain the need for Ghana to go to the IMF, even though acclaimed economic messiahs were around.
Mr. Alan Kyerematen resigned from the New Patriotic Party in September 2023, and withdrew from the party’s presidential primaries to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 general election.
To actualise his goal as an independent candidate, the former Trades Minister formed the Movement for Change in Ghana with the Monarch Butterfly as the symbol.
