The President’s nominee as District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North, Mr. Albert Sefa Boampong, has been confirmed after he secured 85% of the total votes cast in the two rounds of voting.
He polled 29 yes against three, with two rejected ballots.
The nominee had earlier failed to secure the two-thirds of the overall votes needed in the first voting when he polled 21 yes as against 11 no votes.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, congratulated the entire assembly and all stakeholders for supporting the programme to become successful.
He said the confirmation of the President’s nominee had relieved him off the stress of acting as the DCE.
He advised the new DCE to operate an open administration that would involve all stakeholders to contribute their quota to push the development of the district forward.
Albert Sefa Boampong, in his election address at Akomadan last Friday, thanked the members for their support and promised to operate an all-inclusive administration to help move forward the developmental agenda of the Assembly.
