Nana Dr. Kofi Antwi II, Chief of Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Municipality, has proposed the establishment of an Education Fund and a scholarship scheme to support needy students from both public and private institutions in the locality.
It would be named ‘Nana Dr. Kofi Antwi II Education Fund’, and the main focus was to see Odumase with proper human resource development towards the proper development of the area.
The Chief disclosed that similar support would be extended to those seeking to acquire trade skills and other professions.
Nana Antwi announced these when the members of the Education Committee submitted its provisional report after four years of feasibility study to him during the celebration of the Akwasidae Festival last week.
He stressed that the establishment of the Education Fund would help to properly educate the youth in the area as future leaders, which cause he pleaded with colleague traditional leaders to support for community development through education.
Nana Dr. Kofi Antwi II, who is also the Nifahene of the Juaben Asante Traditional Authority, stated that he would welcome support from well-meaning Odumase citizens within Ghana and the diaspora, as well as philanthropists, financial institutions, and corporate bodies to achieve the desired goals.
Submitting the report, the Secretary to the Education Committee, Daniel Okoto-Ansah, explained that the establishment of the Fund would pave way to solicit funds from various sources to execute the desired purpose meant for the students and the communities.
Nana Antwi, who recently retired from the Prison Service, was later presented with a citation by his Middle School teacher, Emmanuel Osei Afoakwa, aka “Monsieur”, to honour him for his meritorious services to his community, the Ashanti Region and Ghana.
