Nsoatreman Football Club has officially distanced itself from comments made by General Manager of the club, Eric Alagidede, concerning New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer for the 2024 Ghana Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s promise to provide each Ghana Premier League club with a bus.
In his speech delivered at the launch of the NPP’s manifesto for the 2024 Elections, Dr. Bawumia stated that should he get elected into power, his government would provide 18 buses to address Ghana Premier League teams’ transportation concerns.
However, in an interview with GHOne, Alagidede called for Dr. Bawumia, who doubles as the Vice President of Ghana at the time of writing, to provide tax rebates to Ghana Premier League teams stating,
“I don’t think there is a Premier League club without a bus. These are not the immediate needs of clubs in Ghana if you ask me. We have consistently, government after government, asked for tax rebate for clearing of sports goods.”
In an official letter released on Wednesday, August 21, the club stated that Eric Alagidede’s comments “were made not on behalf of the club as the general manager”.
