The parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Bolgatanga East Constituency in the Upper East Region, Mathew Silas Amoah, has survived a terrible accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
The accident, which left his brand new Toyota Land Cruiser V8, with registration number GT 5785-23, badly damaged, was said to have occurred on Friday, October 27, 2023 at about 1:30pm when he was travelling from Bolgatanga to Accra.
Mr. Amoah, his wife, bodyguard, and driver were the occupants of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Miraculously, they all survived with minor injuries and were rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital where they were attended to, and discharged the same day.
Though a source close to Mr. Amoah confirmed the accident to this reporter, he could not tell exactly what caused it, except to say he suspected the driver might have veered off the road in his bid to avoid a head-on collision with a truck from the opposite direction. The said truck was also badly damaged, but it is not clear the state of the occupants of the vehicle.
Known by the people of Bolgatanga East as a philanthropist through his Silas Amoah Foundation, the candidate has the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Dominic Ayine, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) to face in the2024 parliamentary elections, and seems poised for the task ahead as he has heavily invested in all sectors, including health, agriculture, education, energy, youth empowerment and sports.
He took to his Facebook handle after the accident and wrote: “We shall live to declare the goodness of God.”
