No show at Ellembelle DCE’s trial

There was no show in the supposed trial of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzo, when he appeared before a Circuit Court in Takoradi.

The DCE, who is a suspect in the missing excavators, together with four others, appeared before the court yesterday after he was granted self recognisance bail late Wednesday, by the Regional Police Command.

This was after he and the four others were accused for attempting to obstruct the police from transporting one of the missing excavators that was found and retrieved.

Though the DCE was in court after the self recognisance bail and others still in police custody, the case was not called.

Later, the police moved the four others, which included the DCE’s personal aide back to the regional police command.

As part of ongoing investigation into the Ellembelle missing excavators, the Police have arrested five Chinese suspects for their involvement in the missing excavators.

The Police, in a statement, said an intelligence-led operation through the night of 7th September, 2022 till the dawn of 8th September, 2022 led to the arrest of Shi Zhong Qix, Wei Lin Xi, Huang Qian Xi, Li Jian Wen and Huang Qian Sheng, at their hideout at Asiama, in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has been contacted for details of their immigration status and their Ghanaian sponsors to assist with the investigation.

However, the police assured the public that all other accomplices, both Ghanaians and foreigners would be arrested and brought to face justice.
