No club in Ghana is ready to win the Champions league; Hearts goalkeeper admits

Hearts of Oak shot-stopper, Richmond Ayi, has admitted that Ghana Premier league sides are not ready to win the CAF Champions League.

Asante Kotoko won the Ghana Premier league after with sixty-seven points, ending eight years league title drought. The Porcupine Warriors will participate in the champions league in the 2022/23 season.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak defended the MTN FA cup after beating Bechem United 2-1 in Kumasi.

Hearts of Oak will also compete in the CAF Confederations cup.

Hearts of Oak is the last Ghanaian club to win both the champions league and the Confederations cup, in 2000 and 2005 respectively.

Richmond Ayi says the Ghana Premier league sides are not ready to compete in the Champions league.

“Ghanaian clubs are not ready for the CAF Champions league,” he insisted on Sompa FM.

“We need to work hard to bridge the gap because it’s possible to catch up. As we speak now, no club in Ghana is ready for the Champions league. “Ghanaian clubs have a long way to go. We need to do a lot to meet the standard out there,” he concluded.
