Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, University Relations Officer (URO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has assured parents and guardians whose wards gained admission to the university not to worry, because there were no accommodation challenges.
According to him, students, particularly freshers, had no challenges regarding accommodation, since admission started last Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he explained that 480 private hostels were on a common platform with the university to facilitate the accommodation of the freshers, adding that currently no other university could boast of the availability of student accommodation than KNUST, having partnered the private hostel owners in the school environment.
He stated that about 70% of the newly admitted students were on campus, while orientations were going on at the various halls with the assistance of the school security, police and Students Transport Directorate to ensure that every student successfully arrives on campus and their halls.
Dr. Bekoe cautioned the freshers against interacting or giving their luggage to strangers apart from security personnel in uniforms on campus in order not to lose their valuables.
He entreated the freshers to prioritise studies as their reason on campus, and remain friends to their books to enable them stay away from bad companies to avoid their involvement in unnecessary demonstrations or rampages on campus to secure their aspirations.
