The Accra Circuit Court 3, presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful, on Wednesday, heard the case of two men accused of disrupting the Homowo festival celebrations at Mataheko, Greater Accra.
Emmanuel Nii Adjei Adjetey, 21, a motor rider, and Justice Nii Abossey Okain, 46, a businessman and self-styled chief, pleaded not guilty to a ten-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, theft, unlawful damage and death threats.
According to lead prosecutor, ASP Maxwell Frimpong, the accused were granted GH₵50,000 bail each, with two sureties and original title deeds as justification.
The case has been adjourned to October 13, 2025 for disclosures and witness statements.
The charges stem from a violent incident on August 30, 2025.
The complainant, Nii Akakpo Adjwenbu I, Chief of Sempe-Mataheko, alleged the accused disrupted festival preparations by removing banners and threatening violence. Justice Okain is said to have threatened to kill one Marcus Abbey if the event went ahead.
Later that day, the accused and accomplices allegedly attacked the festival grounds, assaulting attendees and looting valuables including phones and over GH₵45,000 in cash.
One suspect, Asafoatse Nii Armah Seseeh and eight others remain at large. The accused deny involvement, despite admitting they were at the scene.
Police investigations continue.
