NGO donates to Orphanage Home

George Amoako Alhassan Foundation (GAAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), in collaboration with Fire Trinity Ministry International (FTMI) in Kumasi have donated assorted items worth GH¢10,000 to the Beads of Life Orphanage at New Koforidua in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The gesture forms part of the church’s social responsibility to climax its annual 40 days fasting and prayer festival, and also to officially launch the Foundation.

It is also to alleviate the woes of the vulnerable inmates at the orphanage. Among the donated items were bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, toiletries, biscuits, toffees and pastries.

Others included boxes of soap, detergents, used clothes, African wears, foot wears, loaves of bread as well as GH¢1,000 cash.

Presenting the    items to the home, General Overseer of the church, Apostle Dr. George Amoako Alhassan, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GAAF, said the donation was the tenth in a series of such gestures made to the inmates of the home.

According to him, he was inspired by the biblical injunction to care for the poor and vulnerable in society, while pledging the church’s continuous support for the children.

Quoting Isaiah 58:6-7, he said “The kind of fasting I want is this: remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.”

He encouraged other religious bodies, corporate organisations and philanthropists to support orphanages.

He commended his donor partners both in Ghana and the Diaspora for their support, praying for God’s blessings for them.

Receiving the items, the deputy director of the orphanage, Collins Addo, thanked the church and GAAF for their kind gesture, and promised to use the items for the benefit of the children.

He also appealed to well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the kind gesture of the church and the organisation.
