New police station block at Hweremoase

A new police station block at Hweremoase in the Adansi Asokwa District funded by residents of the community, home and abroad, has been commissioned with a call on the public to form a partnership with the police to enable them combat crime.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Eric Ken Winful, who made the call, noted that, invariably, people who committed crimes came from the same community and people know them, but refuse to report them to the police to have them arrested and put behind bars.

“I urge you Hweremoase community to form [a] partnership with the police here and report criminals amongst you to them. If you do not expose criminals among you; such criminals will one day turn round to steal from you,” he stated.

He commended the Hweremoase community for coming to the aid of the police administration by putting up such a magnificent block for use by the police.

Touching on the request by the community for the police to bring back the barrier to the centre of the town, the Regional Commander said it was for a good reason that the barrier was moved to a new location, and urged them to accept the decision.

Mr. Festus Adei, a member of the Hweremoase community in the diaspora, who came down for the commissioning of the police station block, noted that with the station sited in the community, the security of the people had improved, and stressed the community’s support for the police.

He appealed to the police administration to site the Adansi Asokwa District Police Headquarters at Hweremoase.

Nana Barimansu Antwi Kwanin II, Adansi Benkumhene, who represented the Adansihene, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II, expressed his appreciation to those who initiated and funded the construction of the police station block. He noted that the police could not operate effectively without the support of the public, and urged the Hweremoase community to give the police the support they needed.

The Benkumhene called for the setting up of a police post on the scarp between Adansi Asokwa and Fomena to check robbers who attack innocent drivers and passengers, especially in the night.
