The management of the Northern Electricity Distribution (NEDCo) has presented a cheque for GH¢20, 000 to the Notre Dame Girls Senior High School, in Sunyani, for the construction of a toilet facility for the school.
The presentation followed an appeal for support for the construction of washroom facilities by the management of the school.
Making the presentation, the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, Ing Francis Babereyir, said the donation of the amount forms part of NEDCo’s social responsibilities.
He noted that the delivery of quality education requires a serene environment, for which reason the company found it necessary to assist the school.
“So we have come to make our humble donation to the management of the school to construct washroom facilities, to enable the students to go about their academic work in a sound environment,” Ing. Babereyir said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the headmistress and management of the school, Madam Eva Amponsah, thanked the officials of NEDCo for the donation to the school and gave the assurance that the money would be put to good use.
“We are indeed very grateful for the prompt response by your outfit, following our appeal for support and on behalf of the headmistress and management of the school, I assure you that the money given to us would be used for its intended purpose,” she said.
Madam Amponsah called on individuals and other organisations to emulate the example of NEDCo and assist the school in delivering quality education.
The senior prefect of the school, Miss Daniella Quansah, on behalf of the student body, also expressed appreciation to NEDCo for supporting the school.
“I wish to thank the officials of NEDCo for giving us this amount of money for the construction of our washrooms and we believe this donation would help the school a lot”, she said.
Mr. Maxwell Kotoka, the Corporate Communications Manager and Mr. Alhassan Abaaba, the Public Relations Manager for NEDCo, witnessed the brief ceremony.
