NDC vows to resist attempt to cede 4 parliamentary seats to NPP

The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to resist any attempt by the Electoral Commission to cede any parliamentary seat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the regional executives of the NDC, their internal collations have revealed that the party won the Nsawam Adoagyiri, Fanteakwa North, Akwatia and Suhum parliamentary seats.

Speaking at the press conference in Koforidua on Monday, this week, the Regional Communications Officer, Kojo Danquah, said that they were waiting for the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare the aforementioned seats in favour of the NDC.

According to him, the NDC gained 47.2% whilst the NPP had 51.4% in the Eastern Region, with eight (8) parliamentary seats per their internal coalition.

Touching on Fanteakwa North Constituency, Kojo Danquah revealed that the NDC won both the presidential and parliamentary elections, adding that their parliamentary candidate, Mr. Apaw Owiredu, won with over 134 votes in the elections.

The Eastern Regional Communications Officer of the NDC continued that the party had gained the upper hand in the Nsawam Adoagyiri and Fanteakwa North parliamentary elections and would not compromise any attempt to give the seats to the NPP.

He called on the EC to revisit and carefully relook the Fanteakwa North and Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituencies results, which were characterised by misunderstanding of misplaced pink sheets.

Kojo Danquah cited similar misunderstanding and electoral disputes at Suhum, leading to the EC suspending result declaration to Tuesday, December 2024.

In the case of Akwatia Constituency, he claimed the NDC has evidence of votes cast outside polling stations and that their party agent challenged twelve fake ballot boxes.

Kojo Danquah advised the EC to reject results from the twelve polling stations in the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.
