NDC and Immorality in the Corridors of Power

Is it not very strange and interesting that it is only when the president of the republic is from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that members of the National Democratic Congress will label and tag them as immoral when it comes to the opposite sex?

The cool, respectable and respectful giant, H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor, was seriously bashed over a made-up story about an extra marital relationship he allegedly had with an Arab American called Giselle Yazji. His detractors went on to say that JAK sired twins out of that relationship.

To prove that the allegation was true, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) might have bought first class air tickets for Giselle and her twins to come to the land of her children’s father and spend a few days, with boarding and lodging in a top hotel and spending money all paid for. It probably cost the NDC US$35,000.00 for NY-ACC-NY tickets alone.

The date was conveyed to Ghanaians and when it arrived, buses load of party faithful stormed the Kotoka International Airport to welcome home the twins and their mother. It turned out to be no show.

As the saying goes, if at first you do not succeed, try again and so, the NDC tried again. The opposition probably went on to pay full round-trip fare from Giselle’s home city, Miami, Florida to Accra, in the process it had to add some $2,000.00, spending over $37,000.00 for another attempt. This time, it was like what would have happenedif the Black Stars had won the FIFA World Cup and arrived home. The airport was choked, and leading the pack were top NDC officials cladded in white and holding beautiful wreaths to hang over the necks of the three august visitors, and again, no show. Giselle later rubbished the allegation of having children with H.E. Kufuor. The customer of the NDC said in plain language that she had nothing to do with our ex-president. The NDC made a wrong investment, after losing over hundred thousand dollars just to lure a decent woman to lie about a relationship. Its members went silent and there was peace and sanityin the land.

Then comes H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, also from the New Patriotic Party, who is now facing daily attacks that suggest he was in an immoral extra marital relationship as well. If in JAK’s case there was no photo evidence, now thanks to the new photo technology called photoshop. Some cutting and pasting showed a woman, called Serwa Broni, sitting on a bed fully dressed with the president in singlet sitting nearby reading some documents.

With this, some NDC sympathizers, Issifu Seidu Kudus Gbeadese, Elikem Kotoko, and Stephen Kwabena Attuh, have petition Parliament for the impeachment of the president for loose moral conduct which they believe violates Article 69 (b) of the Constitution which states, he had“conducted himself in a manner which brings or is likely to bring the high office of the President into disrepute, ridicule or contempt.”

In fact, this stance by the opposition is so ridiculous to say the least, considering the fact that assuming, indeed the president had something doing with that lady in question, he was not the one who put out those pictures, if they were to look like nude pictures to the NDC. The one who put up such pictures is the one who violated the law.

If we are told that this is the case of immoral conduct, then Ghanaians should know where records of immoral conducts in the corridors of powerare more evident.Such records abode in their numbers from the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) to NDC and they are yet to be equalled, let alone broken.

H.E. Jerry John Rawlings is now celebrated as a man who come to obey God’s law on increase and multiply. When he died, quite a number of ladies and gentlemen came to prove that he sired them, withsome of them born when he was married to Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings while they were living happily ever-after.

And what about this little-known incident one evening at the Colonial House in the Volta River Authority (VRA) senior village in Akuse? It was alleged that security details were instructed by our Oga never to let anybody in, even if he was Jesus Christ, because he was busy about violating his marital vows. And as the story went on, when She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed arrived and demanded entry she was flatly refused.

What about the late President JEA Mills, who committed perjury when in filling his forms to contest the presidential elections, he stated that he had no child when indeed he had one?Are there more undisclosed ones?

Next is the high-ranking finance minister, Kwesi Botchwey, who spent quality time with his Canadian girlfriend, Sandelle Scrinshaw, an envoy, beneath the sheets. Kwesi Botchwey sired a child with this single lady at the time he was legally married to a beautiful Ghanaian lady. He most certainly might have sold state secrets in kind to this Canadian. Do we doubt the NDC producing a Canadian MP?

It is quite interesting that in the case of the NDC, there are rock evidence of immoral extra marital affairs found in the children born out of these relationships, which brought offices into dispute, ridicule or contempt.

Even though, cleared of wrong doing by CHRAJ, Ghanaians still feel it was morally wrong for Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak to have picked a secretary from a ministry other than his own, to accompany him abroad as secretary. This lady, Ms. Edith Zinayela, alleged to be Muntaka’s girlfriend, was a secretary to Hon. Alban Bagbin, who was then Majority Leader. When the issue came up, the late President JEA Mills demanded to know whether Muntaka was the first official who had travelled out of the country with his girlfriend. So, it is evident, that in the NDC, political office holders travel with their girlfriends at the expense of the state.

This is another piece of evidence that within the NDC, so long as immorality is concern, people are free to do what pleases them and deem such acts as right.

To this end, Ghanaians are wondering, why the NDC will go through great efforts to remove a minute speck in the eyes of NPP leaders, while their eyes are overgrown with forests of trees.

Happy Easter, and blessed be God and His Angels and in His Saints.

Hon. Daniel Dugan
