Award-winning dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that killed eight people, including military men and two Ministers.
In an emotional interview with TV3 on August 7, 2025, Stonebwoy described the tragedy as a sad moment for Ghana.
He described the late Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed as father figures to him and disclosed his personal relationships with them.
“Just like everybody else, it is difficult to actually comprehend. We are all just shocked…it’s crazy. There are persons that I am closed with personally like Honourable himself, big BHIM nation, big support, he encourages me, he’s like a father figure and another father figure also is the former Ashanti Regional Minister as well, these are very closed people and the others are honourable people as well.
“It’s really a sad moment for Ghana,” he said.
He added that the unfortunate incident has deepened his sorrow, as August marks the 10th anniversary of his mother’s passing.
“This is the tenth year of the month my mother passed away, so I was already in a certain mood. And then all these were added on. It’s not easy,” he said.
Stonebwoy recalled his friendship with the late minister with fondness, referencing an interview in which the late Minister Murtala Mohammed publicly commended his work.
“My relationship with Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala is actually like a father one. We actually have spoken on phone more than we have met and what heightened it was when he was on an interview and expressed his love and support for Stonebwoy, the brand and artiste
“He showed that from his level as a politician, he could still appreciate reggae and dancehall while serving the nation,” he noted.
Calling for action, Stonebwoy urged the government to prioritise accident prevention.
“This isn’t just a family loss; Ghana has been hit. The state must employ measures to avoid such disasters,” he concluded.
