MP donates cement, metal beds to support Secondary, Tertiary education

Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie, the Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East Constituency has donated 300 bags of cement and 100 double-decker metal beds to second cycle and tertiary schools in the area.

The gesture is his personal contribution towards addressing infrastructural challenges in the education sector in the Dunkwa Municipality of the Central Region.

The beneficiary institutions of the MP’s largesse are Boa Amponsem Senior High School, Dunkwa Senior High Technical School and Dunkwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

Dunkwa Senior High Technical School received 100 bags of cement to restore its school building that collapsed recently due to severe rains, while 200 bags of cement went to Dunkwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College towards a dining hall project.

The double-decker metal beds are intended to remedy the deficit in supply of beds in the schools which situation has compelled some students to sleep on the floor.

MP Awuah Kwofie explained that the donation was in fulfilment of his promise to promote education in his constituency.

According to him, poor teaching and learning practices coupled with infrastructural challenges in schools have affected studies.

Mr. Anthony Takyi, the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Director of Education, advised the students to concentrate on their studies, since government is determined to make important investment in their education.

Dr. David Ben Sampson, Principal of the Dunkwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College, on behalf of other beneficiary schools thanked MP Awuah Kwofie for the kind gesture and support.

He promised that the items would be used to serve the purpose for which they were donated.
