Mr Benjamin Hakeem, one of the five defence counsel for Razak Koampa Avoliya, alias Mosquito who standing trial for allegedly threatening to kill NPP supporters yesterday told the Circuit Court trying the accused to use the principle of the Valentine Day to grant his client bail.
This, he argued, would afford his client to show love to his wife as the court has done to him. His plea came after the lead counsel, Evans Amankwa, had renewed his bail application before the court presided over by Alex Obikyere.
Earlier, ASP Kofi Blagodzi, the prosecutor  had indicated to the court that the police had completed investigation and that it was left with transcription of the content of the video, where Mosquito was allegedly seen threatening to visit  mayhem on  the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Suame Constituency.
Based on this, the court granted Mosquito GHC 50,000 bail with two sureties and adjourned the case to March 09, 2023. The court also directed the police to use eighteen days to file for the case management conference before or on the very day the case would be heard.
The presiding judge lauded members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) especially the leadership for coming to court, but added that without the judiciary, democracy cannot function.
Alex Obikyere also urged counsel for Mosquito, especially Evans Amankwa, to eschew emotions and find a way to balance politics with the law.
The forecourt of the court went agog after the accused was granted bail as NDC members present sang a number of their party songs in reaction to outcome of the court proceedings.
 Background
About a fortnight ago, Mosquito, a 32 year old farmer went haywire, allegedly calling for maltreatment of members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suame constituency.
On February 5, 2023, the police intercepted a video of Mosquito, whereby he was seen inciting violence against members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The police subsequently issued a statement declaring him wanted.
Fast-forward to Wednesday February 8, 2023, Mosquito, accompanied by his lawyer voluntarily turned himself in to the police after, which he was arrested and remanded into lawful custody by the Asokwa Circuit Court the following day.
He is facing the charge of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace as stated in Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, (Act 29). Mosquito has, however, pleaded not guilty.
