MOG Music admits Black Sherif deserved Artiste of the Year award more than Piesie Esther

Even though the gospel musicians were rooting for Piesie Esther to win the Artiste of the year award, MOG Music has admitted that Black Sherif deserved the Artiste of the Year Award more than Piesie Esther at the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In a reaction to Black Sherif’s victory in the category, MOG Music said it was obviously an award the hip hop singer deserved.

“Comparing the kind of mileage Blacko had in the year of review, it is more than Piesie Esther’s mileage.Piesie Esther’s song ‘Waye me yie’ is big in Ghana, Blacko’s song is big in Africa and all over the world,” Gospel Musician, MOG Music told AJ Sarpong in a Twitter Space.

He added that in terms of streams, Blacko is well ahead so it is very fair to say Black Sherif has to win the Artiste of the Year which he won.

Ahead of the awards on Saturday 6th May, 2023, there was a heated debate between the fans of Black Sherif and Piesie Esther as to who deserved the award but the former was eventually crowned with the award following his numerous hit songs and an album.

Piesie Esther, nonetheless, won two awards out of her seven nominations after being announced as both the Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of The Year.

She also lost the Best Music Video of the Year award to Black Sherif’s‘Konongo Zongo.’

MOG Music was among a number of Gospel superstars who performed on the night alongside Piesie Esther for the “Waye me Yie” rendition.
