Lionel Messi was back in action for PSG on Saturday night and he marked his return with a bang.
With the Parisian side on the brink of reclaiming the Ligue 1 title, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner chipped in with a quite outrageous goal.
Messi’s move to PSG hasn’t exactly set the world on fire but he has shown us glimpses of his one-of-a-kind genius. And, as PSG struggled to break the deadlock against a stubborn RC Lens, the Aregentine magician stepped up to do what he does best.
Swooping on a loose ball outside the area, Messi took one touch before rocketing a vicious curling strike past the hapless goalkeeper.
It was vintage Messi and you could see the relief in his celebration in the moments after. PSG’s 10th title sees them move level with Saint-Etienne as the joint most successful club in Ligue 1 history.
They have now been champions of France eight times in the past 10 years.
Lille won Ligue 1 in 2021, after Monaco were crowned in 2017.
