The Melcom Care Foundation, a subsidiary of the Melcom Group of Companies, is to sponsor this year’s Graphic Clinic, a corporate social responsibility programme that involves health screening and others. This year’s event is expected to take place at Adabraka, a suburb of Accra.
Melcom, which has a chain of stores spread across the country, has also donated 1 Akai 20L Microwave Equipment and 1 Akai Home Theatre System to the Ghana Armed Forces. This is towards ‘Nursing Services 2023 Military Nightingales’ week.
Addressing the media at a short ceremony in Accra to lend a helping hand to these two institutions, the Communications Director of the Melcom Group, Godwin Avenorgbo, said institutional support has been one of Melcom Care’s strengths in reaching out for the public good.
“Our criteria have always been about identifying bodies which render invaluable services to the general public in a consistent and professional manner devoid of discrimination”, he said.
According to him, the Military Hospital establishment has provided quality healthcare to communities and individuals in many parts of the country in addition to taking care of the health needs of members of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In addition, he indicated that “there has been a major shift in favour of Melcom Care’s collaboration efforts with credible media institutions in Ghana, which in addition to gathering and disseminating news, have taken on the responsibility of meeting humanitarian needs, with particular reference to one of the main pillars of the Melcom Care Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives, which is Health”.
The Corporate Communications Manager of Graphic Group, Emmanuel Agyei Arthur, expressed his excitement and thanked the Melcom Group for deciding to sponsor this year’s Graphic Clinic.
He mentioned that Melcom and Graphic Group of Companies have a long standing relationship in business.
Major Alfred Ampong, the Protocol and Sponsorship Group officer at the Ghana Armed Forces, also thanked Melcom and assured that the items donated to his outfit would be used for its intended purpose.
Major Ampong stated that the donation was associated with the Nightingale week laid down every year to celebrate nurses in the Ghana Arm Forces, under the theme: “Military Nightingales, Our Future”.
He revealed that this year, 50 nurses will be honoured.
