Mass distribution of LPG stoves in  Manhyia South

Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti Region have benefitted from the government’s mass distribution of LPG stoves.

The beneficiary electoral areas – CPC, Krobo Odumase (KO), Afia Kobi, Dichemso, Manhyia Proper and Ashton (Ashanti New Town).

The exercise, which was facilitated by the Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, gives meaning to the policy of the government to protect the environment from the wanton destruction of our forest and environment.

It is also to encourage safety at home hence the distribution of the LPG stoves, which is being piloted in about 24 districts across the country.

As a result, about 3,800 pieces of the stoves have been allotted to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) which in turn distributed them to the Manhyia South constituency.

The constituency executives headed by the chairman, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Attah, alias Tomtom supervised the distribution at a ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday.

The mayor of Kumasi, Sam Pyne while presenting the gas stoves to the constituents explained that the motive for the gas burner distribution is to cut down the alarming rate of deforestation and pollution of the environment as a result of burning of charcoals for fuel generation.

According to him, it is government’s policy to ensure that the environment is clean and green hence its policy to distribute LPG stoves through the Ministry of Energy headed by Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the sector minister.

The mayor noted that the distribution of the gas burners will ensure a pollution free environment and limit deforestation in the country. Sam Pyne urged the residents to ensure healthy sanitation and protect the environment by maintaining the greenery at all times.
