Manchester City yesterday celebrated their Treble with an open-top bus parade through the streets of Manchester with thousands watching on in the rain. The start of parade was delayed due to “adverse weather conditions and localised lightning storms”.
City won their first-ever Champions League trophy on Saturday after they overcame a spirited Inter side to win 1-0.
The nerves had clearly got to Pep Guardiola’s team but one moment of quality was enough to make the difference when Rodri fired in to the goal with a measured but powerful finish.
Having already wrapped up the Premier League title and defeated Manchester United in the FA Cup final a week earlier at Wembley, it means City have equalled their neighbours’ famous achievement of 1999 by becoming just the second English team to win the treble.
Pep Guardiola dances his way onto the stage despite the threat of thunderstorms and says: He doesn’t want to talk much but says: “What a parade! We had to be the best parade with this rain or it is not Manchester! We don’t want sunshine! We want rain! The perfect one!”
