Manchester United have agreed a deal for Matthijs de Ligt and a fee for Noussair Mazraoui as the club close in on sealing a sensational double swoop from Bayern Munich that will transform Erik ten Hag‘s defence, Mail Sport understands.
United have reached an agreement with Bayern over centre back De Ligt, who will arrive in a €50million (£43m) switch and shortly undergo a medical.
The Red Devils will pay around £38m up front with £5m due in add-ons. Netherlands international De Ligt, a key target for Ten Hag this summer, is set to join on a five-year contract that includes the option to extend by another 12 months.
Bayern have also accepted a £17m bid from United for full back Mazraoui, a proposal of £13m plus £4m in bonuses enough to secure the 26-year-old.
This move, however, is dependent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka departing Old Trafford.
West Ham have thrashed out a £15m fee with United for the full back but talks are ongoing over the length of his deal. Wan-Bissaka must also tie up financial loose ends with the Red Devils before joining the East London club.
A medical is pencilled in for Sunday or Monday.
Wan-Bissaka, 26, joined United from Crystal Palace in 2019 and has since made 190 first-team appearances. He has just one year left on his current contract.
Securing De Ligt, formerly of Ajax and Juventus, represents a major boost to Ten Hag shortly before United face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
Bolstering his options at the heart of his backline has been a priority for the United boss ahead of the new season and he appears to have finally landed his man.
Morocco defender Mazraoui, who played for Ten Hag during his spell at Ajax, has also entered the final year of his deal at Bayern and can play at left back.
