Former President John Dramani Mahama has waded into Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s money saga, asking whether President Akufo-Addo would set a good example.
Mr. Mahama posted on his social media platform to condemn the development, in which President Akufo-Addo was given his dose.
“Will Nana Akufo Addo ever set a good example for public office holders in his administration?” he asked.
In the post on Friday, July 21, 2023, hours after news broke, Mr. Mahama described the decision of the Minister of Sanitation to keep an amount of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of cedis in her bedroom as scandalous.
The former president’s comments added to the huge public uproar that has greeted the outbreak of news that the minister’s househelps have stolen her $1 million, other hard currencies, and other belongings.
It appears that the public has shown no sympathy to the minister and her husband after such an amount of money was stolen from their bedroom under such bizarre circumstances.
Instead, the rather chilling news of alleged theft has provoked outrage across the country, as the general public is now pushing for investigations into the matter to know the source of the stolen wealth.
In his reaction to the situation on his social media handle, the former president quizzed, “Even if genuinely acquired, why keep millions of hard currencies at home?”
The minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and her husband, Mr. Daniel Osei Kuffour, have dominated headlines for a very bizarre reason.
According to court documents, their househelps have allegedly stolen huge sums of money belonging to the minister and her husband.
It is said that two persons, namely Patience Botwe and Sarah Agyei, have allegedly stolen an amount of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of cedis from Cecilia Dapaah’s home at Abelemkpe, Accra.
