The newly elected flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that the party votes to elect who to lead it and not pick a candidate with competition.
He said this Saturday evening at the Ohene Djan sports stadium, Accra, during his acceptance speech.
Though he was not emphatic, his statement appeared to be a direct jab at the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, who did not face any competition.
Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, is poised to defeat John Mahama but has called for the support of his contenders.
“The real work starts now, and I have no intention of slowing down,” he said.
