Following their loss to Ghana’s Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Cup en route to crashing out of the CAF Confederation Cup, Nigeria’s Kwara United have apologized to its fans for the failure.
Kwara lost 1-0 to Kotoko in Abeoukouta thanks to a Hubert Gyau goal in the second half; Kotoko progressed to the second round on a 5-3 win on aggregate after winning the first leg 4-3 in Accra.
Kotoko progress to the next round and take on Morocco’s Wydad Athletic with the first leg set for October 18 in Ghana.
On the other hand, Kwara became the second Nigerian side to crash out of the CAF CONFED Cup after Abia Warriors suffered elimination at the hands of Mali’s Djoliba.
Reacting to the loss and elimination from the continental championship, Kwara United Chairman Kumbi Titiloye was disappointed with the result.
“We apologise to our teeming and loyal fans and supporters for this unfortunate result. It was never our plan to crash out at this early stage. We are poised to come back stronger, make amends in the league, and give our supporters something to cheer about” he said.
