The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly, in partnership with Neu Isenberg City of Germany, has officially inaugurated a Solar Installation Project for about 24 Schools and four Health facilities in the Municipality.
Mr. Richmond Agyenim Boateng, Municipal Chief Executive explained that the Assembly embarked on a 40,000 tree planting project towards climate change that ends in December, this year.
According to him, the Solar Installation Project also graduated from the tree planting exercise by reducing electricity consumption to contribute to climate change.
He stated that the buying of generators and fuel comes with a cost, while the smoke also destroys the climate.
He mentioned the Apatrapa Health Center, Womase CHPS Compound and Denkyemuoso Health Center as the beneficiary health centres.
He mentioned some of the beneficiary schools as Prempeh College, Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School, Kwadaso Methodist Technical School and some Basic Schools in the Municipality. According to him, the vision was to expand the project to most of the government Institutions in the Municipality.
Mr Osei-Wusu Karikari, Coordinator of the Municipal Climate Partner and Project Manager of Solar Installation, disclosed that the project was an initiative spearheaded by the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly in partnership with Neu Isenberg City of Germany and funded by FKKP through global engagement.
He said the project would enhance power sustainability, cut cost and also save money for the beneficiary Institutions.
According to him, the project has a lifespan of 25 years and could save about GHc300,000 annually.
He indicated that the project started six years ago between the two cities towards achieving the SDG 5 and also to help the climate change with tree planting.
Oheneba Yaa Achiaa Panin, the Queen-mother of Apatrapa, who chaired the inaugurationceremony commended the Assembly for the collaboration with Neu Isenberg City, Germany, for the laudable project to improve delivery in the beneficiary institutions.
She also pleaded with the managers of the beneficiary institutions to take good care of the project to ensure efficiency to the benefit of the residents.
