The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, Samuel Addai Agyekum, has caught the attention of President Akufo-Addo for his selfless service for the people of Sekyere Kumawu.
Complementing the position of the president was the paramount chief of Kumawu Traditional Council, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua, who also hailed the DCE for bringing development to the said district.
President Akufo-Addo and the paramount chief were speaking at the commissioning of the ultramodern 120-bed capacity Kumawu government hospital at Kumawu recently.
President Akufo-Addo said: “I kept faith in him by nominating him (Addai Agyekum) for this position in 2017 and again in 2021. I saw all those qualities in Agyekum and I chose him.
“Many are the reports and commendations that I’ve heard about him, and I must say that he is really representing me well in this district.”
Akufo Addo was emphatic that the Kumawu DCE, who also doubles as the Secretary to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region, is a leader who always works assiduously to accomplish any task he is given.
President Akufo-Addo further told the function that he was very confident Agyekum would continue to lead a united Kumawu to contribute to growth and development of Kumawu.
Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua on his part said, “Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum cannot be discounted when it comes to the reconstruction and completion of the Kumawu District Hospital.
“Mr. President, while I commend your government and your good self for keeping to your promise, which has led to this event today, let me also be quick and commend this young man – I mean our DCE. He did a yeoman’s job.
“He was always on me and my chiefs trying to find the best way forward in completing this hospital. The way he kept energising the youth who had lost hope about the completion of this hospital is amazing, and we thank you for giving him to us.”
Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua described the DCE as an affable politician, a team player, respectful, competent and hardworking, adding that he (Addai Agyekum), together with the current Member of Parliament for Kumawu constituency, “simply makes the work easier for Nananom.”
He, therefore, thanked President Akufo-Addo, for giving them such a competent DCE as a leader of the District.
Samuel Addai Agyekum was appointed by President Akufo Addo and has been at post since 2017. He has supervised the transformation of the district with emphasis on harnessing the potential economic resources in the locality.
Among some of his achievements are the discovery and development of the Bomfobiri Wildlife Sanctuary, construction of a two-storey office complex for the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly; construction of a Police Station at Akotosu and Bodomase, construction of a Fire Station at Kumawu and above all seeing to the final completion of the Kumawu Government Hospital.
