Konkomba Community Chief installed for Accra

The Konkomba community in the Accra Central Business District has appointed a Chief to oversee, protect, and promote their welfare. The Chief, Ubor Biwalti Ntebi, would also bear the responsibility of building bridges with the other ethnic groups.

At a press conference held in Accra last Thursday, the leaders of the Konkomba community announced that although the Chief was enskinned on August 8, 2021, he would be inaugurated on September 17, 2022.

They said the enskinment was necessitated by the fact that the other ethnic groups presently at Old Fadama had sub-chiefs fighting their cause with the exception of the Konkomba community.

Ubor Abraham Bio III, the Greater Accra Regional Chief, urged that the installment of Ubor Biwalti Ntebi should not be misconstrued as an attempt to impose him on the other ethnic groups.

According to him, one of the primary functions of Ubor Biwalti Ntebi was to ensure that the Konkomba community lived peacefully with the other 15 sub-chiefs and groups in the area.

He advised against the claim that the Konkomba community did not have a Chief, and also linking the Sub-Chief to the conflict up north to desist from the practice, since leadership was needed to engender development, peace and unity in the area.

“The primary intention of the Kontomba community is to enhance, promote, and protect the interests of the Konombas in the area. It is not the desire of the leadership to disunite the people.

“It is expected that the Sub-Chief will liaise with other chiefs to promote and ensure the peaceful coexistence of their people in the area.

“The enskinned Sub-Chief is expected not to lord his authority over any other chief or tribe as is being peddled…” he added.

Ubor Abraham Bio III warned that the traditional authority would not tolerate anybody or group of persons who would make capital out of the enskinment to create confusion.
