Koforidua Prison Officers’ Bungalow in deplorable state

Prison officers in Koforidua are living in fear, as their residential accommodation, near Effiduase Methodist School, has developed dangerous cracks and posing serious threats to their lives.

The Chronicle understands that though the problem had existed for years now, nobody is paying attention to them.

When this reporter visited the bungalows, he discovered that most of the buildings had cracks on the walls, leaking roofs, corroded metals and deteriorating ceilings. Though some of the officers, for fear of the building caving in on them, have used their own resources to repair some parts of the dilapidated building, it is still not enough to ensure their total safety.

Some of the officers who spoke with The Chronicle said, some of their colleagues posted to the region had to rent their own accommodation because of the state of the official bungalows.
