The Deduako Kodiekrom Youth Association in the Oforikrom Municipality, in conjunction with the Municipal Assembly, the Assembly Member, chiefs and elders of the community, has organised a clean-up exercise to keep the environment tidy at all times.
The Vice Chairman of the Association, Mr. Gideon Kwarteng, said the clean-up exercise in the area had been scheduled for every first Saturday of each month, and expressed his joy to see the enthusiasm of the members of the community to make it a success.
He cautioned people against the habits of dumping refuse in gutters, because it was a recipe for the outbreak of diseases.
The Assembly Member for Deduako/Apemso Electoral Area, who also doubles as the Presiding Member of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, Richard Nyarkoh, expressed gratitude to all those who took part in this exercise.
Mr. Michael Akwasi Aidoo, the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom, promised to bring development in terms of roads, water, security and educational facilities to the community.
Another aspiring parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom Constituency, Mr. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, advised the residents not to wait for any promptings in order to keep their surroundings clean, but rather do that periodically to keep contagious diseases at bay.
Nana Kofi Owusu, Chief of Kodiekrom, commended the organisers for the exercise and called on the government to come to their aid and maintain their roads.
He announced that he had reserved a parcel of land for the construction of a market for the community, and appealed to the government to assist them.
He further appealed to the government to construct a fence wall around the school to protect its property.
