Real name Gregory Bortey Newman, King Promise has got netizens talking again about his fashion sense, especially a pair of boots he wore on the red carpet of this year’s edition of Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards which came off in the United Kingdom on Sunday December 5.
Known for wearing shoes with big heels, King Promise came under trolls online when netizens compared the size of his heels to items that put him in the light of mockery. This has earned him the nickname ‘Mr. Camboo.’
King Promise complimented the black and green Bottega Veneta boots with a black pants and a leather jacket.
The price of the boots has therefore put the trolls to rest. It has been revealed that King Promise wore a $1,834 Bottega Veneta boots which isGH¢11,370.
Reacting to the trolls about the size of his heels, King Promise in June this year said “I hear that a lot; that I like wearing big ‘Camboos.’ Because of how it looks, people might probably think it’s cheap but some of my sneakers actually cost a couple of thousands of dollars. To people who are really into sneakers, they will understand.”
King Promise was at the MOBO Awards as a nominee who battled Wizkid, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, CKay, Davido, NSG, Rema, Tems and Tiwa Savage for the ‘Best African Music Act.’ Nigeria’s Wizkid won the category.
