Fast-rising Ghanaian gospel artist Kikicalm has released a stirring new rendition of the popular gospel anthem ‘Abankese’, describing the song as a reflection of her own story of faith, peace, and divine gratitude.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with starrfm.com.gh, Kiki revealed that the decision to record her own version came from a deeply personal place.

“This song has always spoken deeply to my spirit,” she shared. “The message touched me in a personal way, reminding me of God’s grace and faithfulness in my journey. I decided to do my own version because I wanted to express that same emotion from my heart and share how the song ministered to me.”

Kiki explained that while her version honors the heart of the original song, she was intentional about letting her unique sound shine through.

“I wanted to keep the soul and message of the original song intact while allowing my voice and unique sound to flow naturally,” she said. “My approach was to pray, listen deeply, and interpret it with simplicity and sincerity. I blended gentle African gospel tones with my personal vocal expression to make it feel both familiar and fresh.”

Known for her soothing vocal style and inspirational delivery, Kiki describes her music as “heartfelt worship rooted in African rhythms.”

“My musical journey has been one of faith, growth, and discovery,” she noted. “The ‘Kiki Calm’ sound is defined by heartfelt worship, African rhythms, and a sense of serenity; it’s music that speaks to the soul and brings calmness even in the storm.”

For Kiki, this latest release is more than music; it’s a message of hope. “I hope listeners feel uplifted, encouraged, and drawn closer to God,” she said. “I want them to know that no matter what they’re going through, there is peace, hope, and strength in His presence.”
