Karela united ended the first round of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season with a home win over struggling Kotoku Royals on Sunday afternoon.
The Aiyinase based Premier League outfit recorded a 2-1 victory over Kotoku Royals to keep their hopes of survival alive at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
Karela United were poised to expose the backline of Kotoku Royals with an early dangerous attacks launched by Evans Adomako Wiredu and Samuel Attah Kumi. It paid off with the opener within the quarters of the game.
On the 12th minute, Kharim Abdul Ayeh brilliantly opened the score for Karela United after making a good use of Owusu Boakye’s low-cross delivered into the box of Kotoku Royals.
Kotoku Royals responded with an equalizer after six minutes through the club’s top scorer Richard Dzikoe. Dzikoe netted his fourth league goal for the Oda based club to push the game to a one-all before the hour-mark.
The home side restored their lead via a spot-kick converted by Evans Adomako Wiredu on the 35th minute of the game.
