JUSAG celebrates 50th anniversary with a health walk

Samuel Afotey Otu, National President of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has entreated members of the union to remain committed to their professional ethics.

Mr Otu remarked during a health walk at Aburi in the Eastern Region, as part of JUSAG 50th anniversary celebrations, that the union had absolute responsibility to protect the independence of the judiciary.

According to him, as the elections beacon, members must continue to work within the tenets of their duties to safeguard the independence of the judiciary.

“This year is an election year and we (JUSAG) want everybody to take his or her work seriously. Nobody should be influenced by any political party…” he said.

According to him, members have no other role in this electioneering year than to focus on their respective duties and perform same to the state.

‘JUSAG at 50 health walk’ was fairly attended by members; including registrars, recorders, clerks, administrators and some members of the bench.

Some of the attendees travelled as far as from Volta and North regions to join the walk.

The walk started from Ayi-Mensah and ended at Peduase Lodge, where other activities lined-up for the day, including aerobic sessions, took place.

“I think Judicial Service work is always about sitting down….and it is not good for our health,” he warned.

The members were, therefore, urged to make it a routine to exercise every day.

Ramsey Ahorklui, the Greater Accra regional chairperson added that other activities lined up for the golden jubilee celebration are games, floats, health screening, sporting activities and symposiums.
