The Acting Chief Justice of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has, on behalf of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service, extended heartfelt condolences following the devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including two Ministers of State and three personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In an official media statement released by the Office of the Acting Chief Justice, the Judiciary expressed profound sorrow over the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, as the victims were en route to perform national duties in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
“The Judiciary and the Judicial Service of Ghana stand with the President, the Government, and every grieving family, as the nation comes to terms with this immense loss,” the statement read.
Among the deceased were highly respected public servants and patriotic soldiers, whose lives were tragically cut short in the line of duty. The Acting Chief Justice described the event as a “heart-breaking tragedy” that has cast a shadow of mourning over the entire nation.
“Their untimely passing is not only a personal loss to their loved ones but also a grievous blow to the country they so faithfully served,” the statement added.
The Judiciary’s message conveyed prayers for eternal rest for the departed souls and comfort for the bereaved. It also called on Ghanaians to forge ahead in unity, drawing strength from the selfless legacies of those who perished.
“It is our prayer that the Almighty God grants the souls of the departed eternal rest and also grants strength, comfort, and healing to all who are affected by this calamity,” the Chief Justice stated.
The Judiciary concluded the statement by urging citizens to remain united and inspired by the courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty demonstrated by the fallen.
As the nation mourns, flags continue to fly at half-mast in honour of the victims of one of the darkest moments in recent Ghanaian history.
