Judges have raised serious concerns about unpaid allowances and inadequate security within the judiciary.
At the annual general meeting in Accra today, Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, President of the Association of Judges and Magistrates of Ghana, shared their frustrations, stressing the need for prioritizing their safety and welfare.
He pointed out that judges lack proper security, as personnel only accompany them to court and leave at the end of the day. “What kind of protection is that? Anyone can walk in and out of the court without any screening,” he remarked.
Justice Kwofie also noted that the ongoing neglect of their salaries and allowances, particularly fuel allowances, has become increasingly problematic.
