I’ve not forfeited my six months’ salary -Kufuor clarifies

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has declared that he has not forfeited six months of the salary paid to him as ex-president to the State.

The declaration by the former president followed media reportage, which indicated that Mr Kufuor has officially written to the Chief of Staff, indicating the forfeiture of six months of his salary to the state.

In a statement, the former president described the publication as fake news and urged the public to disregard same.

“This Office wants to emphatically state that the reportage is fake and should be treated with the contempt that it deserves,” the statement emphasised.

It continued, “We are at a loss as to the object of such reportage and call for rational reflection on the use of the present avenues of communication that the digital age affords all of us.”

Giving further and better explanations to discredit the alleged fake news, the statement explained that the surname of the ex-leader was wrongly spelt.

“A communication emanating from our office will never get the former President’s last name of KUFUOR wrongly spelt,” It added.

“The Office of former President Kufuor, therefore, urges the general public to utterly disregard this mischievous piece”, it stressed.

The statement was signed and issued by Senior Aide & Spokesman to the former, Dr Kwabena Osei-Adubofour.
