The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the Bole area of the Savannah Region, during a strategic engagement with the Special Operations Team deployed there.
The high-level engagement took place at the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters in Damongo, where the IGP met with members of the Special Operations Team assigned to Bole for the maintenance of law and order.
The team had travelled to Damongo specifically for the meeting.
In a stirring address, Mr. Yohonu commended the team for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to remain vigilant and uphold the highest standards of discipline and ethical conduct in their operations.
“The role you play in stabilizing communities affected by conflict cannot be overstated,” the IGP said. “Let your presence be a symbol of safety and reassurance to the people.”
He emphasized the importance of proactive policing, timely intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other security agencies.
The IGP underscored the need for enhanced inter-agency coordination, unity of purpose, and efficient communication to ensure lasting peace in the region.
As part of new directives, the Special Operations Team was instructed to intensify daily patrols, particularly in boundary areas of Bole where recent displacement of residents has raised security concerns.
Securing these vulnerable zones remains a top priority, the IGP added.
Following the engagement, the Special Operations Team returned to Bole to continue their routine operations, which include community patrols, intelligence-gathering activities, and conflict prevention efforts.
Since their deployment, the team’s presence has played a key role in maintaining public order and restoring confidence among community members. Police sources say early indicators point to a significant reduction in tensions and disturbances in the area.
The IGP’s visit and his reaffirmation of support signal the police administration’s determination to safeguard peace and uphold security across all corners of the Savannah Region.
