Houseboys in trouble over allegedly stealing Madam’s guns

Houseboys of Fransuaza Bridget Arthur, Engineer and resident of Dzorwulu in Accra, Baiden Ampratwum Junior aka Tunchi (first accused (A1)) and Blessing Adu aka Kweku Adu aka Jack (A2), have been put before an Accra Circuit Court for purportedly stealing her pistol.

The two were arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court ‘1’, presided over by Prosper Duelove Gomashie, yesterday, on three counts of stealing.

Junior aka Tunchi and Kweku Adu aka Jack pleaded not guilty to the crimes and the court has granted them bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties, who must live in the jurisdiction of the court.

Brief facts

The facts as presented by the prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Isaac Anquandah, to the court are that Tunchi is Bridget’s houseboy, while Jack is a houseboy of Elizabeth Arthur, her mother.

He said though Bridget and her mother live in separate houses, the accused persons are friends.

The prosecuting officer told the court that on February 26, 2022, the accused persons conspired to steal one 12 bores B pump action shotgun, marked AAH/1726/08MOSBERG T.113161, from the complainant.

Per the plans of the two, he said, Kweku Adu aka Jack was charged to look for a buyer for the gun at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, whilst Tunchi would steal it from the complainant’s room.

According to him, an informant prompted the police of the accused persons’ intended plan, and they also mounted surveillance on the accused.

He said the accused persons were arrested while in the process of selling the said gun which was concealed in a carton at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The Prosecutor said a search conducted on them revealed one HSCHMIDT KAL 8mm gas pistol, which was also the property of the complainant.

He said during interrogation, the accused persons admitted the offences – that they planned together to steal the gun and each confessed the roles he played.

According to him, the first accused person led the police to the complainant’s house and demonstrated how he carried out the theft of the gun.

“The complainant had since produced documents covering the gun to the police as a rightful owner of same. After investigation the accused persons were charged with the offences and put before this honourable court,” he said.
