Honesty Pays! …Zoomlion Worker Heavily Rewarded For Returning GH¢20k Cash

Salifu Ibrahim, a Youth Employment Agency (YEA) beneficiary, has been given a special and well-deserved recognition by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), for his exceptional display of honesty and godliness.

To honour his integrity, Zoomlion rewarded him with an undisclosed amount of Ghana Cedis, U.S. Dollars and a motorbike. He was also flown to Accra for the first time and accommodated at a luxurious hotel.

At a ceremony held in Accra, Mr. Ibrahim was recognised for returning GH₵20,000 he discovered in a waste bag during his sanitation duties in the Tamale metropolitan area.

Rather than keeping the money, he informed his colleagues, secured the funds and waited for the rightful owner to claim it.

Days later, the owner approached his workplace and Mr. Ibrahim returned the full amount without hesitation.

Dr. Ato Sarpong, a Board Member of the Jospong Group, commended Mr. Ibrahim for his selflessness, emphasising the rarity of such acts.

“In today’s world, it is uncommon to find someone who would return such a significant sum. Mr. Ibrahim’s actions have elevated the reputation of Zoomlion and the Jospong brand globally,” Dr. Sarpong remarked.

He added, “May the money he returned come back to him in many folds. His example is one we hope others will emulate.”

Northern Regional Public Jobs Coordinator for Zoomlion, Haruna Suleiman, also lauded Mr. Ibrahim’s discipline and commitment.

“He is a hardworking individual who has served with dedication for eight years without complain,” he said.

Mr. Ibrahim expressed profound gratitude to Zoomlionand his supervisors for recognising his actions.

“I’ve never owned GH₵20,000, but I couldn’t tarnish my reputation by keeping money that wasn’t mine. I believe in resetting Ghana together, one honest act at a time,” he said.

Zoomlion’s recognition of Mr. Ibrahim aligns with the company’s core values of godliness and people-focus. By celebrating his integrity, the company aims to inspire others to prioritise honesty and responsibility in their daily lives.

Mr. Ibrahim’s story is a testament to the power of ethical behavior and the impact of small acts of honesty in shaping a better society.
