Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Gado Watara, Head of the Wangara community in the Ashanti Region, has tasked heads of the Zongo communities to unite for the development of their areas.
According to him, until the leadership of the various tribal groups formed a strong united front to galvanise the people to undertake some socio-economic initiatives, Zongo communities in Ghana, particularly Kumasi, would continue to experience underdevelopment and challenges.
Alhaji Gado Watara was speaking on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary on his Enskinment as Head of the Wagara tribe in the Ashanti Region.
The theme for the Anniversary was: “Tolerance, Understanding and Peaceful Co-existence: Perquisite for Zongo Development.”
He stated that he had been a crusader of peace, unity, and tolerance among the Zongo chieftaincy institution in the Ashanti Region and beyond over the years.
The Wangara Head appealed to the political actors to ensure that, police brutalities in Zongo communities become a thing of the past.
He entreated the government to take urgent steps to fix the Aboabo Palele River problem, which had become a life threatening situation anytime it rained.
He also pleaded with the government to find lasting solutions to tricycle issues in order to ensure peace between the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and the Tricycle (Adedeta) Workers Association.
He expressed his delight at the educational transformation in the Zongos, as every household could now boast of a graduate, which, he said, was a plus and pledged his continued commitment to contribute towards the development of the Zongo communities.
