Haruna Iddrisu charges youth to ensure peaceful elections

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has urged the youth in the country to make peace a priority in the December elections.

According to him, Ghana is all that we have as citizens, hence the need for the youth to dedicate their lives to live in peace before, during and after the December 7 elections.

The Tamale South Legislator gave the advice as a Special Guest of Honour at the Transformation Summit organised by Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, recently.

He entreated the youth, especially young graduates, to learn to do things that are always right and also live to work hard for the success of our country, because it belongs to the youth.

According to him, if the current generation, including himself does not do things right, the up and coming generation cannot learn from the low performance of the past generations.

The Tamale South MP urged the youth to be competitive and see themselves as leaders of the world, and not a leader of their country.

He reminded them that, as the general elections approached, they should conduct themselves in a manner that is responsible and guarantees peace and coexistence among the citizenry. He also called on them to dedicate themselves to the unity, peace and tranquillity of our country.

Nana Professor Osei Bonsu, Asakyihene, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, commended Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) for the initiative to groom and train the youth in leadership, as the only problem of Africa is lack of good leadership.

He noted that, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was very passionate about the development of the youth in the country, saying it is long overdue to pay attention to the kind of leaders we groom and raise as a country because about 50% of the youth lifestyle is nothing to write home about.

He noted that the current trend by which the younger generation are going wayward from generational thinkers is worrying and bemoaned the manner the old generation are leading the young ones astray.
