Maradona Yeboah Adjei, known professionally as Guru NKZ has opened up about his depressing moments back in 2020. In an interview on Onua FM, Guru recounted how what was meant to be a two weeks holiday in the US led to his depression.
He said he traveled just before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, hence he could not return quickly and spent five months in the US due to travel ban at the height of the pandemic.
According to him, upon his return to Ghana, a lot had changed and his career took a nosedive.
He noted that it was a difficult moment for him as he even lost his team to work with.
“I went for two weeks and Covid prolonged my stay. When I came back, everything had messed up in the country and I was just trying to build a new energy around so that took some time. There were a lot of disappointment that was I released my song ‘Mep3 bad energy’,” he recalled.
The ‘Alkayida’ hit maker, noted that it took time a build the positive energy he needed around him particularly because there had been a lot of disappointment.
He said he managed to overcome his despair by expressing his emotions through music.
“In my sad moments, I use music to relieve myself. I released a song with Fameye which was all about me. I was trying to express something and making it more comical but it’s music, I just have to balance it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Guru who is currently a student at the University of Ghana studying Political Science and Information Studies has declared his intention to contest for SRC President.
“I’m currently studying with the University of Ghana in Political Science and Information Studies and I’m in my third year. I want to start there because I have seen the happenings and the kind of leader that people want.”
“I’m looking forward to bringing Legon TV, students are tired of the radio station. We should have a Legon TV, the buses on campus are very few, we need to add more.”
